ComedianPete Holmeshas been married to his wife, Valerie Chaney, for over six years.
Holmes doesn’t share much about his family life on his social media pages, which are dedicated to his comedy career. However, Chaney has a public Instagram page where she regularly shares photos of their family and her own personal life.
In March 2023, Chaney went onInstagramto share a series of photos as a birthday tribute to Holmes. “You are my coziest pal and I love you so much!” she wrote in the caption.
“This is how you love me,” she continued. “With a constant big fat YES! Yes to my weird thoughts, yes to my jokes my fears my dreams my stories my shadow my desires my cravings… all of it!! Everyone should get to be loved like this and I’m so glad our daughter gets to have this kind of example of love.”

She’s a dance and fitness instructor

One of the things Chaney shares the most often on her Instagram account is her dance videos. She has been a dance fitness instructor at a wellness center in Ojai, California.
In anInstagram postfrom March 2022, Chaney shared a flier to an event where she taught a cardio dance class and communal dancing.
The following year, sheposted a videoof herself dancing with a caption that included a review from someone who had taken her dance class. “Val’s class is like watching a 12 year old girl have a dance party in her bedroom… Except she’s friendly and inclusive and very skillful at teaching you how to join in the fun!” it read.
She practices meditation

Chaney isn’t just a cardio dance instructor: she also practices and teaches meditation.
In November 2022, she shared a photo onInstagramadvertising a virtual day-long meditation retreat that she was hosting. It featured yoga, meditation and mindful movement. The previous month, she alsoadvertisedan online mindfulness course that included meditation practice.
The centering practice seems to be something that Holmes and Chaney have in common. The comedian has talked about his meditation practice in interviews before. In a 2019 appearance onCNN, he said, “I feel like I’m meditating all the time. I never stop meditating. I’m so happy to share this practice, and that’s what it is, a practice.”
They got engaged on a hot air balloon

In February 2017, Holmes and Chaney got engaged in a very special way: while on a hot air balloon. He announced their relationship milestoneon X(formerly known as Twitter) alongside a photo of the two of them embracing on the balloon.
Speaking with theLos Angeles Timesin 2018, Holmes opened up about their engagement, sharing that when he first met Chaney, she mentioned wanting to ride in a hot air balloon. So, for the proposal, he took her to Santa Barbara, California to pop the question on one.
The one issue with his plan: the man driving the balloon was right on top of them in the small wicker basket. “I could feel the heat of his breath and the tickle of his whiskers, and I’m nervous, and he’s operating the thing," Holmes said.
Holmes said Chaney found the whole situation funny, saying, “We knew a story had just happened. That’s who you marry, not the girl who says, ‘That wasn’t what I wanted.’ "
The couple married in October 2017 and they have shared their celebrations on social media every few years, including theirfifth wedding anniversary.
They share a child

In July 2018, Chaney shared a photo onInstagramof Holmes snuggling her pregnant belly with the caption, “Does this pregnancy make me look fat? And a little cross-eyed?”

They host a podcast together

Holmes hosts a popular weekly comedy podcast calledYou Made It Weird, which features him interviewing a celebrity guest, usually a fellow comedian.
In August 2020, he introduced a spinoff version of the podcast calledWe Made It Weirdand its discussions are similar to the original show, but there are no celebrity guests: it’s just Holmes and Chaney talking and joking around.
She’s into poetry

She shareda photoof a snippet of one of her poems in June 2023 and it read in part, “You might not remember / So I’ll remember for you / What you said that summer night.”
