A Michigan man tragically died after he tried to be a protective father and prevent his daughter from seeing her dead pet in the middle of the road.
“Now I have to live here and see where he died every day,” Jennifer told WNEM.
His wife explained to the outlet that her final moments with Andrew were spent making him a pot of coffee before they noticed that their daughter’s beloved pet was dead in the road.
To prevent her from seeing the dead animal, Andrew grabbed a shovel and went to remove it before she woke up.

“I freaked out. I’m right there on the porch,” she explained. “I can see it all and I’m like if I can see him from this porch standing under the streetlight, regardless if he had dark clothes on, a driver is responsible to see what’s in that road.”
To make matters worse, Jennifer and Andrew spent all of Monday planning his mother’s funeral, who had recently passed away. Now in addition to her mother-in-law’s funeral this coming Saturday, Jennifer has her husband’s burial to plan.
“Our world changed, in the blink of an eye,” the description reads. “Please, please pay attention while you’re driving, even taking your eyes off the road for a couple seconds can result in death.”
“Andrew would do anything for anybody and that’s what he was doing during his last moments on this earth,” it continues. “With his big heart, he was trying to protect his daughter’s heart from seeing her cat.”
As her family works to process the tragedy and grieve together, Jennifer told WNEM that she will remember her husband for his caring, thoughtful, and selfless persona.
“I’ll never find someone who’s gonna love me like he did,” she said. “He did anything. He had a big heart. He’d help anybody.”
