As to which species this animal belong is now an challenging question , as the DNA analysis was inconclusive . The little critter does n’t seem to fit the genetical visibility of a detent or a wolf , and it quite possibly represents an intermediary stage during the domestication of dog .

It ’s a fascinating possibility , but it ’s important that we not chute to ending . The specimen could very well be an ancestral beast . If it is a cad , however , it would likely represent the oldest in the archaeological book . The current record holder is theBonn - Oberkassel dog , see to around 14,223 years old . The uncompleted remain of this ancient domesticated dog were unveil in a basalt quarry near Bonn , Germany in 1910 .
The origin of dogs is still not whole clear , hence the importance of the new breakthrough . The first reclaim dogs go forth in Asia around 14,000 to 16,000 years ago , but genetic grounds suggest thedivergence datebetween dog and ancient wolves bechance at some power point between 20,000 to 40,000 year ago .
