Thor : Ragnarok director Taika Waititi participate in a Reddit AMA on Saturday night , and I ’m now officially pump for whatever Flash Gordon - style amazingness is headed our way of life .
During the AMA , Waititi was asked about the 1980s - style logo , which debut at San Diego Comic - Con . He say the new logotype was inspired by seventies and 1980s sci fi fantasy art , “ because our film feel like that . ” Waititi also confirmed that audience can gestate a 1980s vibe from the picture , “ and more . ”
“ I think [ Thor : Ragnarok ] will be one of the most adventuresome and most ‘ out there ’ of all the Marvel movies . It ’s a demented movie , ” Waititi said .

After the logo first debuted , and the fact that it was bug as an intergalactic road trip , audiences speculated whether the film would take on a light , unearthly tone than its predecessors . All signaling point to an infrangible yes . Waititi said in the AMA that he basically did what he wanted with the film , praise Marvel ’s determination to give him monolithic creative exemption , and jestingly add that he did n’t even bother render to make the motion picture fit in with the larger MCU .

There have been some early comparisons to Guardians of the Galaxy , which Waititi enunciate is his favorite Marvel picture show so far .
