It ’s a moment among many across the show that has transformedThe Batman‘s take on Oz from the almost charmingly amiable , but sleazy mobster he was in the film to an absolute affright — a shift that Farrell apparently need to resist to his very Congress of Racial Equality up until the last moment .
“ Every roughage of me , of Colin , resist it because there ’s a part of you that , no matter how glum a character you ’re playing and no matter how you take over swim in those waters of the impossible action of any comeback into the heart of the audience , there ’s a part of you that always wants the consultation to be open to the musical theme that you may redeem yourself , ” Farrellrecently say Colliderof the electrical shock he felt reacting to Vic ’s death in the conclusion . “ No matter how blue your character is , you always want them to experience that maybe there is some sliver of humanity depart , that if the right thing was done in a well written scene in the right moment , you could redeem yourself . I ’m not trusted that ’s potential any longer by the end of episode eight . So , knowing that I was going into that form of grade of psychological finality and embodying the fictitious character with a kind of a depth of cruelty that is articulated in that scene , it was tough , adult male . ”

Farrell recognize from the get - go that part of whatThe Penguinwas going to do was completely kill off any approximation that Oz would remain the man he was inThe Batman , ahead of his getting even in the foresighted - in - the makingThe BatmanPart II . But afterworking with Rhenzy Felizfor the near part of a twelvemonth and coming to the final day of production , the actor wasnothaving a pleasant clip separating fabrication from reality .
“ There was very niggling conversation on the bent that Nox . We knew where we were .
