Bruce Wayne has had to do a lot of questionable thing in his time as the Dark Knight — that engagement and struggle is what make Batman such a compelling graphic symbol . But I have never find more betrayed by a comic Word of God as I was today , to discover that Bruce Wayne eat hamburgers with a tongue and ramification .
Before this incident of burger madness , the opening to today ’s Batman # 16 — by Tom King , David Finch , Jordie Bellaire , and John Workman — is actually a total delight . As Bane begin to make his moves against Batman straight off in Gotham City , Bruce assembles as much of the Batfamily as he can to learn them to get out of town ( because he ’s Batman and Batman does things alone , do n’t you sleep with ) .
The problem is , Dick Grayson is sick of having to foregather up in the Batcave , so somehow , through a vapourous force of will that we deplorably we do n’t get to see on - control panel , he convinces Bruce , Damien , Jason Todd , and new not - Robin Duke , to meet up at Batburger , a Batman - themed fast food restaurant .
Bruce is not impressed .
The get - together itself is lovely , mainly because ofJason and Damien ’s incessant bickering with each other , even while Bruce very calmly tells them all to get the infernal region out of contrivance before Bane kills them all to strike out at Batman . But not even the threat of expiry at the hand of Bane can develop anyone for the second Bruce sedately sets his burger down on the table , cracks out a tongue and fork , and starts slew into the infernal thing .
Only Duke has the reasonable response of being shaken to his very core , because manifestly his fellow cricket bat - cellblock have already seen this fall out before . Dick even state it ’s because of Bruce being raised by Alfred , but I do n’t have it away . This is just too much , I conceive even Alfred would worm at eating a beefburger with a tongue and furcate like some sorting of alien being who ’s never take care a beefburger before in their life .
Does Bruce do it just to fuck with people ? Is it another distancing tactic ? Is Bruce Wayne so thoroughly , uproariously over - prepared at all times that he ’s even intend about playing mind game while he ’s eating a goddam beefburger ?
I want to consider . Because the option is think that Batman is in fact the biggest criminal of them all .
