Linda Hamilton guest stars on Lost Girl while Bo and Kenzi go undercover at a summer camp for juvie malefactors to hunt down Man - Thing .
There were two plot lines weave along this calendar week before the big shippy finale , so let ’s take on them one at a clock time . First , Tamsin meets up with an old protagonist , who turns out to be Linda Hamilton . Linda looks moderately cool and badass in a sort of Steven Tyler kind of way . She habituate a Xena - esque serrated leaf blade as a weapon , wears henna on her hand , and her name is Acacia , which is derived from the Hellenic watchword for “ irritant . ” She and Tamsin kick back and talk about the glory Day , when they hang out with real warrior ( Acacia name - drops Tecumseh ) .
As they bump back Molsons in the back of Tamsin ’s pickup truck , Acacia say things like , “ Bitch , do I search like a necromancer ? ” and “ He knows you found her , now it ’s time to finish the job . ” She pull out a roamer tarot card card to underscore her point .
So , look … I do n’t know anything about do . I ’ve never acted . But I ’ve learned a bunch from Lost Girl . If your method acting of show up emotion in a picture involves jaw clench , that ’s never break down to be anything but screaming . I ’m talking “ Jeremy Irons in the Dungeons & Dragons pic ” levels of hamming .
Anyway , to make it clear , Acacia ’s been station by someone to insure that Tamsin fulfills her deputation of “ bring in ” Bo . She gives Tamsin a runeglass bottle , and once you put the magic hair into it , “ the druid will do the rest . ” Tamsin jump collecting haircloth from Bo ’s friends , but she starts to feel emotiony things about Bo and throw off the bottle off . This bring Acacia back for more jaw clench . soon thereafter , the secret dude who ’s after Bo sends Tamsin a message – Acacia ’s hand in a box .
It seems this puts the concern in our favorite valkyrie , so she go about collecting the whisker she postulate to activate the magic bottleful . At the last , Bo seems to actualize something ’s wrong and does the coolheaded / scary succubus eye .
The freak of the week is a tikbalang , a creature from the folklore of the Philippines , and I ’m not even going to go into the actual tikbalang legend because Lost Girl handles it so dismissively . The brute does some creepy Blair Witchish things by leaving those wooden caltrops all around , but this was seriously the most cursory monster of the week ever . For one affair , they only really introduced a unmarried fae reference at the camp where the murder were hold place , so the wink she appeared on screen I was like , “ Oh , that ’s evidently the colossus . ”
Then the monster itself was this pathetic industrial plant fauna that was literally a guy in a gillie suit , like some kind of zero - budget version of Marvel ’s Man - affair plant monster ( or DC ’s Swamp matter I guess ) . I get that the budget is n’t tremendous here , but holy crap that was a joke . Or was it supposed to be a man - shape fae wear off a plant costume ? Because that ’s even worse . Defeating the monster involve the delinquent tossing some dope bomb , Bo fighting it half - heartedly for four seconds , then trimming off a bit of hair . The gravid twist that the tikbalang had a human boyfriend helping with the execution only kind of helped .
On the top , Kenzi seemed back to her honest-to-god ego this week , and we got some Graeco-Roman Kenzi one - liner . One of the reason I became a Lots Girl fan is because the show ( principally Kenzi ) could make me laugh out loudly on a regular basis . This hebdomad , it was , “ Are you seriously gon na say me that was n’t the funniest shit in the chronicle of both funny and shit ? ” Calling the tikbalang a ticklebang was low - hanging yield , but it ’s all in the delivery . I loled . Did you notice that Kenzi show up to summer encampment with the most epically stylish tetraiodothyronine - shirt ever ? Not even reckon the bustier , it had shoulder launching pad and a gathered thorax . Do they have some sort of fae seamster hanging around who slash these things together ?
That whole Kenzi / Dyson exchange about wolves was also great . “ I think you actually love wolves . ”
But I guess what everyone will be talking about is the human relationship stuff . I get that the show is sort of build around all the love trilateral and love dodecahedron and whatnot , but sometimes it is just godawful boring . Mainly when it involves Lauren . She perpetually looks to be on the threshold of crying , and this hebdomad finally wept a few prison term . And while I also sympathise that Lost Girl is a soap opera , sometimes it wears the soapiness on its sleeve a little too much .
For example , when Tamsin confesses to her buss with Bo , she really vamp up it up , eliciting a slap from Lauren and a “ Get out ! ” that would not have sense out of shoes on , say , Dallas or Dynasty . But wow , does Tamsin ever give respectable bitchface .
Now everyone ’s in beloved with Bo , and you kind of get the notion they ’re all just smugly biding their time until Bo gets bored with Lauren . Because Lauren is boring . So ho-hum . “ Oh , you ’re go on an dangerous undertaking ? I was hoping we ’d have this weekend to blab . ” So Lauren finally breaks up with Bo , praise the Ash ! Only now I fear they ’re run to wallow in angst . Lauren somehow manages to mope around even harder post - breakup . How do you mope harder ? I ca n’t do it . But Lauren can .
I ’ve been question why everyone be intimate Bo so much . She ’s cool and has some good calibre . I ’d hang out with her . I just do n’t get the undying , fervent , passionate love . After that conversation between Lauren and Dyson , I ’m beginning to surmise it really all comes down to Bo ’s magic succubutton . They both sort of lazily number a few salutary things about Bo . “ Noblehearted . Brave . Sure . ” Then Lauren is like “ BEST . SEX . EVER . ” And Dyson all but high - tens her and cry , “ HELL YEAH ! ”
Please , please assure me I ’m not the only one who snickered when Tamsin said , “ That is a distressing , pitiful little box . ”
