Ron Bell‘s osteomechanical sculptures resemble relics from some long - abandoned skill experimentation , coalesce off-white with handmade mechanically skillful parts as if to reanimate the skeletons or draw power from their marrow .
Bell ’s series “ Osteomechanics ” and “ Crania Mechanica , ” integrate animal pearl into opine machinery . With the heavy utilization of organization and electrical prongs , they have a steampunk feel , but Bell ’s core inspiration come from eighteenth Century scientist Luigi Galvani , who experimented with pitch an electrical spark to animal muscles . The sculpture are suppose to kindle a sensation of closed book , leaving the witness to wonder at the earned run average and person that gave rise to these strange minuscule machine , and what scientific job they were intend to work .
