A Filipino Lawmaker Wants to Punish People for Ghosting

But a politico in the Philippines is trying to make the human activity of ghosting an “ emotional offense . ”

Representative Arnolfo Teves Jr. of the Nationalist People ’s Coalition has proposed a bill in the Republic of the Philippines House of Representatives that could outlaw the human activity of ghosting , or , cutting off on-line communication with another person . The neb , title “ An Act Declaring Ghosting As An Emotional Offense , ” wasposted to Twitterearlier this week by One News Philippines and liken ghosting to emotional inhuman treatment , arguing that :

Ghosting is a form of spite that develops feelings of rejection and neglect . Ghosting has adverse event on the mental Department of State of the one being ghosted and his or her emotional state is adversely affected as he or she will be constantly thinking of the well-being or the unexplained reasons of the one who ghost . The equivocalness with ghosting , is that there is no genuine blockage between the political party concerned and as such , it can be liken to emotional inhuman treatment and should be punished as an emotional offense because of the trauma is grounds to the “ haunt ” party .

It ’s currently pending with the politics ’s wellness committee , and is indecipherable whether or not it will really sink forward ( I ’ll bet it wo n’t ) . The bill also does n’t specify what the penalisation for ghosting will be , and how the possible law could be enforced .

Honestly , dating is gruelling enough , but I ’m not sure punish the act of ghosting is going to help the situation on any front .
