Yesterday , Anonymous declared digital war on ISIS . Now , Britain seems to be unite the fight , with an elite cyber offensive force that design to strike Islamic State belligerent .
Reuters reportsthat the UK Chancellor George Osborne wants the country to “ strike at Islamic State fighters , hacker and hostile power ” with plans to “ bolster spending on cyber defences , simplify its state cyber structure and build its own unsavory cyber capability to set on adversaries . ”
The word come in response to British intelligence service which intimate ISIS is try on to develop ways to digitally attack the UK ’s hospital , power meshwork and air traffic controller systems , concord to Osborne . Speaking to staff at Britain ’s GCHQ — the British version of the NSA — heexplained :
“ We will defend ourselves . But we will also take the fight to [ ISIS ] … When we talk about harness [ ISIS ] , that intend harness their cyber threat as well as their guns , bombs and knives … They have not been able to use it to kill people yet by attack our infrastructure through cyber plan of attack . But we know they require it and are doing their good to build up it . ”
Britain ’s attempts to kill any digital ISIS menace will be divvy up between GCHQ and the military , with a doubling of expend to $ 2.9 billion on cyber security between now and 2020 . Osborne says that it will target drudge , reprehensible crew , militant mathematical group and uncongenial powers .
It ’s not clear how quickly the UK can mobilize such resources . In the meantime , Anonymous has pledged to “ unleash wafture of attacks on ISIS . ”
