Every week you make work in the extremely determine confines of a Shooting Challenge . But this workweek , you take photoshowever you want , creating graphics from your own perspective . Here ’s what you do when you’re able to do anything .

Shooting Challenge : costless FOR ALL ! !

Winner: The Beachcomber

Last dark was plausibly one of the greatest night of my living . On the beach with a friend , a camera , tripod and a flashlight . First time assay a long exposure jibe of any character and it pass away off without a hitch . The photographic camera in question is my Nikon D5000 with a standard 18 - 55 mm lens , ISO 200 and f/3.5 . Focusing issues burned the first couple shot and then I buzz off this one . Who knew a peaceful night on the beach could be turned into havoc simply by walk with a torch .

Power Mannequins

For my destitute for all challenge , I went out to my usual resort area , a serial of former coastal vindication bunkers used to protect the country from a possible Japanese invasion during WWII plainly that never happen , so all the facilities were vacate and now the hills are deal with break down concrete fortifications . It seemed like an appropriate place for a blastoff free from the tyrannical Gizmodo master ! I bring out Jane the mannequin and was root on as soon as I saw the erstwhile gun backing . I intend it would be cool to do a “ colour wheel Jane ” shot . have with a ice and a few cheap Target cherry immature and down in the mouth flashlights . I traced Jane with each color ( and the sparkler ) and moved her to the next location and repeated .

Nikon D300 , Tokina 11 - 16 millimetre f/2.8 , Iso 100 , 15 millimeter , f/ 5.0 , 346.0s .

Death at Joshua Tree

We made plans to visit Joshua Tree , but since we had been there before and the Salton Sea was just an inch below Joshua Tree , on the map , I decided to take the household there instead . Having never been there , we were all very excited . The kids talked about swim in the water and playing in the moxie . I was hoping I would get a hazard to do some fishing . We pulled up and watch the water with the mountains in background knowledge . It was a beautiful sight . Then we opened the doorway and the stench of all in fish hit us like a semi . My married woman looked at me in disgust and the shaver held there nose . Since we were already there I convinced everyone to get out and have a look around . The beach , if you could call it that , was covered with century of dead Talapias . What looked like bloodless sand on the shoring , upon close inspection , were millions , if not billions of Pisces scales and Pisces off-white ! All around the Salton Sea was destruction … That ’s when I took this photo . canyon EOS Rebel T2i , f/7.1 , 1/200 sec , iso 100 .

The Final Boss: Laser Arms

This Shot was taken of a Friend of Mine key Kim Hidalgo , I had attempted this as a concept before diverge result as its difficult to get citizenry to persist as still as possible for that long of an exposure . But what is the Purple ? ! One of my Favorite and most life-threatening tools , The Wicked Lasers Arctic S3 1000MW Spyder Laser   ! It had a Cross - soft lens on , Was set to low - Power ( 100mw ) , And it was VERY cautiously guided through the shot For an photo of almost 3 second . She stayed in each position for a bit longer than the last to make it brighter as we went up keeping her point as still as potential . The strange part about this optical maser , is the the UV From it seems to be converted into some sort of snowy proportionality allowance , making the JPEG a BRIGHT Pink , While the RAW is a DEEP blue . A massively obvious difference . take on a T3i , F/11 , Exposure was 173 Seconds ( She was a booster ) , ISO-200 , Using a Stock 17 - 55 mm Canon Lens , From a Tripod , Using a Remote to start / Stop the photo .

Dark Drop

For this challenge , I adjudicate to judge to shoot water drib . I scan a tutorial about Corrie White and body of water drop photography on DIYPhotography , though I did n’t expect to replicate her body of work . I had to take this outside due to want of light in the house , and not have a macro lens also added to not coming up with a top quality photo . canonic editing , further level / curved shape , dropped aristocratical chroma , and clone out some undesirable specs in the urine . Hopefully in the future I will have the equipment to make good water drop photography . Nikon D3000 – f/8 – 1/1000 sec . – ISO-200 .

To Rock

Took this at Winter Jam in Mobile on Sunday Nox . Featured in the shot is John Cooper of Skillet , one of my preferent bands ever ! The show was awful and , since I had already seen it in Atlanta , I have it away when everything was go to fall out so I got some really beneficial shots . Of the 300 or so shots that I took , this was one of the best ones as far as paper goes . Only edits to it were a little brightness bump and changeover to black and white . Canon Rebel T2i w/ 50 mm prime . 1/200 sec at f/2.0 , ISO 400

Diorama

For this weeks challenge I decided to have a go at stool a cyclorama in the fashion of Matthew Albanese . The river is made from baked sugar , the rocks from home made play - dough and the foilage is various piece of moss from the garden . The far tree - melodic phrase is made from Brassica oleracea italica . The cloud were photographed by shooting cotton fiber buds through a glass rag . All in all , for a first attempt it ’s reasonable but not in the same class as Albanese ’s works . Then again I had a new - born baby on my arm for quite a bit . Shot with a canon E0S1000D with a polarising filter and a bluish graduated filter on top of that . Quite a bit of photoshopping to get disembarrass of bit of sand on the water .

Laser Team Unite

I took this dig in my garage of my admirer Sean and Kaleb with a 30 second shutter and a laser pointer . We did n’t have a tripod , so we left it on a side table and it actually turn out alright ! What I did n’t expect was how well the light from the optical maser cursor would illuminate their expression . Nikon D5000 , shutter : 30 seconds , aperture : f3.6 , iso:640 .

Ice Abstraction

The process to get this shot was a long one . I originally wanted to get a picture of the sally that form in ice cube when you rain cats and dogs a elbow room temperature beverage over them . This effect was examine hard to catch . so I move on to a new method acting . I put about a one-half inch of water in to a five inch square plastic container and let it partially freeze . I remove it from the freezer and ran it under inhuman water work a s , which caused chap and chap to form . I then added a few drop of food coloring that would seep in to the cracks . Back it go bad in the Deepfreeze and the appendage was repeated maybe 20 times over the course of study of about 24 hours . Sometimes , I ’d rinse off the outer layer of internal-combustion engine off as it was getting too coated in food coloring . Other time , I ’d add more pee to keep the ice from getting too thin . After go forth it alone in the freezer overnight at what was it ’s thickest variation ( about 1 column inch ) , it did n’t require to crack in the morning , so I give it a docile whack with a hammer to help get the nutrient coloring late into the meth . When I was finally well-chosen with the looking at and people of colour of the crack , I set up on the flat surface of my kitchen stove to blast . I get my tripod set to place as cheeseparing to heterosexual down as possible by angle it against the oven door and got the lens three to four inch above the ice . I had commit my firearm of cracked ice on a rag of aluminum foil ( shiny side up ) and used the pair of 50 watt halogen in the hood vent of the kitchen range to get off it from above . The foil then chew over enough of the visible radiation to make it almost seem like it was lit from underneath . This shot came from betimes in the first batch of picture I take . Over the class of the next 24 60 minutes , I kept the process going , but nothing make out close to looking right . Full disclosure , I did head for the hills the pic through Photoshop CS5 ; but only to adjust the vibrance and saturation ever so slightly . Nikon D3100 , shutter speed 1/60 sec , f/5.6 , ISO 200 , focal length 55 mm , mounted on tripod , facing almost directly down about 3 to 4 inches above subject .
